The MASCOR Institute conducts research and development in the areas of "Mobile Autonomous Systems" and "Cognitive Robotics", hence the name. While the former area focuses on research questions about navigation, localisation, perception and low-level control of mobile systems in structured as well as unstructured environments does the latter concentrate on the high-level control of robots. The aim is to equip a robot system with autonomus functions in various application scenarios by applying intelligent algorithms and methods in the field of perception, decision making and inteaction with the environment.
